Yoga Holiday in Kerala India February 2017
with Adele Robertson and Lucy Murray

                Yoga                                      Winter sun                               Beach

I will be returning to Cherai Beach Resort in 2017 for my fifth tropical Yoga Holiday in Kerala, Southern India. This year I am very excited to be taking Lucy Murray with me as co-teacher on the holiday. Come and join us on an eight nights/ nine days Yoga holiday. Cherai Beach Resort is a comfortable resort on Vypin Island, not far from Cochin International airport. We practise Yoga daily, but it's your holiday to practise as little or as much as you choose. This holiday can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you want it to be. Between Yoga and meal times, relax on the beach, have an Ayurvedic massage at the resort Spa, take a trip out to nearby towns for shopping, sight-seeing or possibly an elephant festival. This trip is ideal if it is your first visit to India, as well as for those wanting a relaxing Yoga holiday by the sea. The climate is warm at this time of year and perfect for the beach (average temperature February - March 28 oC / 82 oF). A holiday in Kerala is very relaxing and easy going compared with travelling in the north of India.

Myself and Lucy Murray have studied with the Mahasiddha Yoga Group in Oxford, and with teachers of the Karma Kagyu lineage. We like to share what we have learnt on our own Yoga journeys through our teaching of Yoga and meditation.

Emirates flights are recommended. Flying from the UK choose a flight time that suits you to get to Dubai (Heathrow flight is EK002 which leaves at 13.35). There are also good connections from all UK airports. From Dubai flight EK530 arrives in Cochin (COK) at 8.05am for noon check in. Please note if the UK flight is delayed, the connection time which is usually comfirtable can be quite tight so you may need to be prepared to hurry to your departure gate. The driver will pick you up from the airport in Cochin and transfer you to the resort, around 45mins away.  When you leave, if you have up to you. Recommended flights are EK533, EK029 leaving at 4.25am, or EK531, EK003 leaving at 9.40am). If you're on an adventure, Emirates have excellent connections from all major Indian airports.

Complete the online process to apply for your Indian Visa through VFS GLOBAL. The cost is approximately £100. The visa begins from the date of issue at the office and lasts for 6 months so applying in December would be about right.

Vaccinations that should be up to date for travel to Kerala and Tamil Nadu are typhoid, hepatitis A and tetanus. Please check with your doctor's surgery or travel clinic for the most up to date information. Malaria is not a concern in these areas of India but you should be prepared with repellent for use at dusk and dawn. Fortunately the salt water and sea breeze at Cherai Beach keeps the numbers of mosquitos relatively low.

"If you enjoy exercise, massages and beauty treatments, experiencing different cultures, delicious Indian cuisine, shopping, warm seas and idyllic beaches with like-minded people in a beautiful hot climate, then I would highly recommend this holiday as it delivers all of this and more.  I had a truly memorable time and the yoga was fantastic."                                             Joyce, Somerset (came on Adele's Yoga United holiday 2015)

“I had been looking forward to my yoga holiday in Kerrala so much and it didn’t disappoint.  Everyone was so friendly and the resort was fabulous.  I have been doing yoga with Adele for over 5 years, and her depth of knowledge of the teachings of yoga and meditation is amazing.  Adele’s classes are very inclusive so whatever age or ability you are, she will help you get the most benefit and fun out of the session.  To go with her to practice in the beauty and warmth of India was really special!”
                                                                                  Tessa,   Somerset
(came on Adele's Yoga United holiday 2014)

"A typical day for me on this holiday started by watching the sunrise over the backwaters with a cup of tea, then heading off to the yoga studio with my daughter. The yoga practise here really is suitable for everyone. Adele has an all inclusive, non pressured, gentle teaching style with modifications for beginners and advanced students alike. My daughter who has only done yoga once before was able to participate fully and really enjoyed it. We loved the relaxed, friendly atmosphere around Cherai and even in the local busy town we never felt hassled or unsafe. The buffet food in the resort is delicious. It's great to try a little bit of everything and sample curry for breakfast if you fancy it! We also ate in the nearby cafes and beach shacks, the food was good everywhere and we didn't get ill. The beach is clean and uncrowded, the sea is warm and calm in the mornings with waves in the afternoons. The sunsets on the beach are just beautiful. On this holiday we enjoyed the most wonderful massages, an Elephant festival, shopping in Fort Kochi, having an Indian Churidar outfit made at the tailors, a bhajan performance and so much more. I can't recommend this holiday with Adele highly enough."                                                          Holli, Somerset (came on Adele's Yoga United holiday 2014 and 2015)
